Construction of the piece had been moving along by using one of the three 5' x 9'-3" panels laid flat as a table. It was not large enough to ensure a near perfect top to bottom fit of the pieces, so I cleared out my office and with a friend built a two panel platform (10' x 9'-3") stable enough to walk/kneel on for setting parts in the middle. Starting from the right, the piece was built up on sub-panels until the platform was covered. The rightmost subpanels were glued up then removed. Note the parts at the seams between subpanels are left unglued until final install. The left subpanels were slid over to the right to make room for the next parts. The very left parts were not glued onto their subpanels to allow for adjustment of the next set of parts - sort of like a "wet edge" in painting. The subpanels won't have to be slid again.

"Boy Dry Fit" shows the parts slid over and the remaining subpanels in place. The boy is not sculpted or poly'ed.

Learning a lot on this project. Thanks for looking --

Yes, I have a VERY understanding wife. What all this implies is my desk is now in one of the guest bedrooms, the kitchen table has some of the rightmost subpanels stored there till I'm done, there is a constant flow of dust to the office, etc., etc. She puts up with it all...

Amazing. This is a must see in person. Many of us saw this in person in January, Joe has made some great progress and is willing to have another show and tell.

September 28 will be the next event

I will post announcement in a separate post. Signup quickly

Beautiful Joe! Was it as hard to fit the pieces together as it must have been to find straight 2x4s?

Thanks!
You're right about the 2x4's. As @Bas has suggested, I went on a Tuesday or Wednesday to find the best available. Even at that it took me about 2 hours to pick out about 20.
