Guys, I got a real ejimukashun on hammer drills today.
Boss had me installing 5 park benches. Each bench was anchored with 6 phillips anchors 1/2" x 3". I have a Milwaukee 1/2" hammer drill so I started drilling holes ......SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY. We also have a Bosch 3/4" hammer drill but it uses the large SDS bits. We didn't have a 1/2" bit for it though. A subcontractor showed up on site with a drill similar to the Bosch that had spline bits & he had a 1/2" bit. The difference was phenomenal! If you just wanna have a drill for a few holes in masonry or concrete from time to time, a chucked HD is ok (I'll keep mine for wood & metal). But if you wanna get serious with hole drilling get an SDS or spline bit drill.

I bought a recon Makita 5/8" hammer drill with chuck for $40. Worked great for the 20 @ #1/4" holes I needed.

Big holes call for bigger tools, but do any of us hobbyists drill more than a few holes in concrete at a time ?
