I'm new to NC Woodworker, but not to woodworking. I started my "pilgrimage" and love for woodworking in high school. Upon graduation in 1970, I was the only person in the Davidson County, Tennessee school system to receive four credits for Industrial Arts (woodworking). The school system only offered three. My teacher lobbied the County school board on my behalf. I'm not a master woodworker, as I lack the patience. After all these years, I'm still learning and loving the experience. Wishing to learn from members and advance my skill. Today, I mostly build specialized game boards of various types.

Welcome

I used to have a friend in Ashland City. West of Nashville.

Don’t know where that is in relation to Davidson Co.

Hello and welcome...

I graduated high school in 1971. Our high school had a separate vocational tract with courses on automechanics, carpentry, electrical and I think plumbing. My own industrial arts class was one year and included drawing and layout, basic electrical, some metalwork (we made a cold chisel), and woodworking. As you might guess, very broad with little depth. I learned more about woodworking from my uncle, who had been a cabinetmaker. I also lack patience and am certainly not a master.

I have a cheap go set - 100 black stones, 100 white stones, and a roll-up mat for a board. Have you ever made a wooden go board? If so, would you share a picture? I have some remodeling to get done, but I think I'd like to make a better "go home." Thanks.

Welcome from Lake Gaston, NC. I am another 1970 high school graduate but from a place a lot further north.
