So I have a lot of walnut. So much that I don't really know how much is left, it's stashed in various places (garage, in-laws garage, friends shed). Easily over 1000 bd ft. 4/4 (actually 5/4 skip planed, a hair over 1" actual.), mill run from VA, Air dried, over 20 years old. most 5-6" wide and 14'-16' lengths. A lot of it has some knots and checks but due to the length I can usually trim to get what I need.
But not this time.
I'm looking at building a bed frame, and the design I've come up with doesn't really lend itself to laminating up thicker stock for the posts. I could maybe find a way to sandwich boards around a plywood core for the head/foot panels, but thicker stock would be easier. For the posts I'd need something like 2 16/4 pieces 48" long and around 10-12" of good heartwood width, for the head/ft I'd need 4-5 12/4 boards, 8' long and 10-12" of good heartwood width. Anybody got slabs or thicker stock and want to trade for a larger quantity of thinner stuff? Even a decent log section would work, I have an Alaskan mill to cut a coulple slabs.
I'm thinking around 1.75x bd footage for a trade. The obvious issue is color matching to what I have if I'm going to mix sources for other parts. But thought I'd throw it out there and see if there's any interest. I have pictures but they're all from when the huge stack was all in a storage unit 4-5 years ago, I can get some current ones next time I'm at my in-laws.
Located in Durham, have pickup truck and bed extender if you can't move 16' on your own.
