Ok,

So I got the new dado set set up and ran a test piece through.
Wouldn't you know it....the dad blamed thing cut perfectly. Sides
perpendicular to nice flat bottom which was parallel to board face.
No fuzzies or anything. Man, this was what I been looking for. I'm
in dado, grove, rabbit heaven now. I could not believe how much
better the cut was than my old set.

I tried widths from 1/4" to 3/4" and did not have to add any shims
to get the width I needed. The set up was just like any other stacked
dado set except this one has a 3/32" chipper. Now you can get those
odd sized groves for the wierd size plywood we have now days. 15/32"
Who ever heard of such a thing before?

So, if you are on the fence about getting one of these, go a head
and jump on it. You'll be glad you did.

Just my point of view...ymmv :saw:

Believe me, you'll need the shims. Plywood might say 15/32", but it won't be a correct dado (either loose or too tight -- I usually can get to within 0.002" with my Freud SD 508 set -- and don't forget that planers don't produce exact dimensions when milling hardwood either and many of us may be fitting planed hardwood into a plywood or hardwood dado (see my Wine Cellar project for hundreds of examples!). Here's a picture of the tight fitting dadoes that held the bottle support cleats as a clear example. Freud SD508 is the best dado set made as far as I am concerned!

BTW, the correct spelling of that term you used is (Mc)Rabbet!

Ok, ok. Silly wabbet, I did a spelling goof. Thank you for the correction.
And you are correct, it is the best dado set in my humble opinion.

I looked at some of your 'Project' and the 'bottle support'. Man that
looks like a lot of work you got going on there. Very good looking work
you are putting out, I might add.

Are you wearing your earplugs, safety glasses, and dust mask? :eusa_whis

Good for you Rob. I sometime forget to take my dust mask off between
dusty stuff. I'll be sitting there marking/laying out my next process and
wonder why it's getting so hot. Duh!

I have a problem with my glasses and my dust mask. I have one similar
to your's and have a hard time keeping my glasses from being pushed up
against my eyeballs. I use the foam roll up ear protection. @ 32 Db.

Well, back to doing what I love. You have a good day.
Remember, Momma sez dat Rob he a good Wabbet.
