Freud Router - FT1700VCE - Reviews?

Anyone use this router? I am looking at a used one with the fixed and plunge base for $125. Looks to be in very good shape, 2 1/4 HP and depth adjustable from the bottom. The reviews on Amazon are mixed (and sometimes I don't trust them any way . . . . ). Let me know if you have experience with it. thanks.

I have one and it works fine. I like the fine adjustments and it includes and undertable adjustment as well. If yours does not have the dust attachment, Freud will send you one. I also have the FT2000E and have been happy with that (it is mounted in my table)-the only disadvantage to this bigger one is that it is not round and will not work in the Woodpecker lifts (the FT1700 is round). Also, you can buy a separate plunge base for the 1700 (about $60 on Amazon).

Do you think 125 shipped is a good price with the plunge base? I saw some comments online about backlash with the height adjustment - what exactlly is that and has it been an issue for you?

I have had no problems with mine, however, I do not have the plunge base. $125 with both bases would be a good price.
