After not using a guard for years, I almost lost my left thumb back in Dec. I realized I had been on borrowed time, and got the Uniguard for my Uni.
Honestly, I am still getting used to using a guard, especially an overhead one, after not using one for so long. But I won't go back to not having one.
The splitter is great, a few seconds to remove when necessary and reinstall for normal cuts. The biggest issue I have is that I have a router table on the end of the 52" table and I have to work around the rail of the Uniguard being in the way of some pieces. It's nothing a little planning won't get around, but is something to consider.
The guard itself is easy to work with, the split design is very convenient.
