I recently got my new L-V catalog and I'm still drooling. Since I want to get into chair making, I was looking at their set of chair devils and the pullshave. I was wondering if any one has used them or has any opinions. They are a little pricey, but they sure are purty8-O I already have a set of their spokeshaves and they are wonderful. Any advice?

Since I'm a chair maker I was drooling over the pull shave and the new scrapers as well. I think the pull shave could be very hand for seat shaping. For me vital tools are:

Nicholeson rasp
Auriou ironing rasp
LN 100 1/2 convex sole plane
gooseneck scraper

I work with dry wood so that does affect my choices. If you want to learn to make Maloof style chairs I have classes on ocassional chairs and maloof style rockers. I looking forward to getting back to my figured cherry rocker. Too many shop projects to get out of the way right now. :(

If you are coming to the Extravaganza on Saturday plan to spend a good part of the day at my classes. I'm doing some overview of making maloof style peices.

Thanks,

John
