Chainsaw safty gear question

For you loggers out there, do you use chainsaw chaps? If so what brand? What to look for? Do you feel safer wearing them?

I looked at a pair Northern had on sale for $20 but they didn't wrap around the leg fully. Seeing as I'm using a chainsaw more now that I'm turning I was thinking of getting a pair.

I'll be looking for the answer to your question Rob. All I have for safety gear is gloves and a face shield. I'd like to get the full set up for my chainsaw work.

Rob, I wear the safety chaps when I'm milling, when I'm using a very large bar on my big chainsaw, or when I'm cutting in a position that I deem risky. I usually don't wear them when using my smaller saws.

Bailey's is one of the best suppliers that I know for logging related supplies, and that's where I bought my chaps.

Ditto on Bailey's - they sell high quality stuff... The only thing is dislike about Bailey's is even though they have a division in TN. Every one of my orders has taken like 5 days to arrive, since everything I have ever ordered has come from their main CA branch on left coast.

Scott, Bailey's lists a pair of orange chaps for $54, "Our Work Safe chaps are sewn using the same quality materials as our forest green chaps except they have a heavier 1000 Denier blaze orange nylon covering."

Do you think these have the Kevlar layers as well?

I was helping a buddy fell some trees and we were out in the middle of nowhere. On our first break I asked "Just in case, where is the closest hospital"? He replied "don't know". On our second break I noticed a small tear in his jeans, about mid-thigh. He checked and had a small surface cut that was still bleeding. He had hit his leg with a running saw and luckily only nicked himself.

Get the chaps, they are worth every penny.:saw:
