Now that I have the construction bugs fixed and the vise is working smoothly, I am starting on a document for Resources in case someone wants to build one. For starters here is the anatomy of the bracket leg vise (hand-wheel not shown) followed by a photo of the prototype.

Today, I did a vise transplant. The right of the bench leg location was in the way of my next vise experiment. Thus, I decided to move it to the left side of the bench leg. After I unscrewed the “wooden leg”, it was an opportunity to picture the entire vise assembly:

After the transplant, the install looks like this. I am also going to try crubber only on the chop like some others do.

Here it is holding my tall vise which is its primary task.

As I started to write this up, I realized that a leg vise needs a leg and is best suited to new bench builds. So I shifted direction and built a vise with similar technology that would bolt on to an existing benchtop thus having a much wider application.
