Decades ago I removed a row of bricks to make the step down from our carport a bit safer. Recently I added a pair of metal handles as a safety assist.

Those metal handles were functionally okay but unattractive. A pair of replacement handles started with these sapwood walnut pieces ready for priming.

So far, they feel good in use and are better looking.

Big improvement on the metal handles, and a great way to improve safety for people with mobility issues.

Mike, those handles look suspiciously similar to the handles I have seen on some of your vises! Nonetheless, they look great and are highly functional!

Guilty. I have used that style for several handles for various tasks.

In Resources there is a one-page PDF that shows how to lay out the two arcs for this handle.
