The definition of "Open Box" is a product that has been either on display or was sold and returned. In both cases the "factory seal" is broken and the product was removed from the box. In either case that's a great deal!

I had to jump on this one -- it is a good deal. Thanks for posting, Matt (but my credit card doesn't thank you!).

LOML got me one last year for Christmas. Although it has been an invaluable tool when needed, I have a problem with the price on replacement blades ($30-60). If there is another manufacturer making blades for this unit at a lower price I'd like to know it. Otherwise, I'd go with a lower priced competitor's unit - even one from a BORG.

I've heard the Craftsmen blades are good alternative blades for this tool. Also over at Woodnet, Holbren is running a 20% off special on Imperial universal blades.

* Just noticed Joe listed the Craftsmen blades. Sorry for the dupe. But there is still the special.

Having only used Fein's blades, how is Sears' blade quality as compared to Fein's (price aside)?

Don't want to put a Harbor Freight Blade on a Fein Tool, LOL Now that would be just plain silly.

Wood Magazine did a review on oscillating multi-tools in the most recent issue. As expected the Fein was the top choice. I have the single speed harbor freight version and I will at some point replace it with a fein. Before i got the one I have I would not have phantom spending that kind of dough on one but now I could not only justify it to my wife, I could justify it to myself with a straight face.:gar-Bi I just have other stuff a head of it on my wish list and at the moment lots of self control.

I keep reading where these tools have no use in woodworking as we describe it.

Maybe, but I use mine:

With the scraper, to remove glue lines. One scraper blade is intentionally dull.
With an E blade, I square corners on rabbets, like a chisel. And used it to square mortise walls.
The sanding disk goes where my Rotex can't and DC is pretty good too.
The sanding profiles work a lot better than my old PC profile sander did.
