vINEGAR PAINTING WOOD FINISHES

I was brewing up a bit of strong tea to stain the money box of a bank I made for the grand-dau. It gives a nice color and is non-toxic, I like that. Whie in the kitchen I saw some apple cider vinega and wondered how that would do as a stain, and if it would damage the wood at all, citric acid...
