Lathe reconditioning

I just bought a used Delta 46-700 aprox 10 yrs old & I'd like to recondition it. Any suggestions on how to refinish, i.e derust & paint & check out variable speed mechanism, etc?

reconditioning Delta Unisaw

I've been sanding oxidation off of surface of an old table saw, any suggestions about getting a nice finish on this piece of steel?:eusa_thin Chris
