mini lignomat question

I just bought a used mini lignomat moisture meter, it's the basic model. The paperwork that came with it is very vague about which pins to use and when, it comes with 3/16" & 7/16" pins. If anybody out there uses one of these let me know which pins you use and for what. Thanks in advance.
