How to figure header size for double door

I am building a finishing room in my shop, and I need to install a 60" double door. I checked around on the web, but it seems to be real complicated to determine the size of the header. I plan to store stuff (not lumber) overhead, but it will not be a 2nd floor - just storage. I figure a 2x12...

How to figure ratio of project

I probably did not describe this topic right, but. I remember seeing as part of another thread not too long ago someone was explaining how to make your furniture project appealing to the eye using a dimensioning rule. If I remember right it was based on a percentage of length, width, height...

How to figure (spm) on my bandsaw? Help

I am trying to figure out how to figure out SPM (surface speed per minute). I think I need the rpm of the pully shaft (583) and the diameter of the bandsaw wheel (14"). I want to change pulleys to lower the rpm way down for cutting metal. HELP!!! please :help::help::help:

Figure 8's for table tops

I watched David Marks make a nice table yesterday in cherry with a solid top with leaf inlay. My query is over his use of figure 8's to hold the top. A shot showed the fasteners fitted to the all the aprons - 2 on each long side and two on each short side. He then screwed the top to all of them...
