vibrations with the standard belt were not that terrible but still not what I would call satisfactory. In the past I tried a link belt but didn't like the increase in noise so I went back to the standard issue. Some where I saw an article or someone told me something (this old mind just don't remember):lol: anyway, I went to a hydraulic place up the road from my shop and purchased a notched "V" belt for $8.00 and change and it made a significant difference in noise, belt slap, vibrations. Performed the nickle test and even though my jointer kinda runs downhill (floor is not flat), the nickle stayed standing during multiple startups and shutdowns. I know this is not revolutionary but just thought I would pass this along as this seems to be one of the things that stick in the crawls of buyers of Griz 490's and Shop Fox 1741's. FWIW
