Laser engraved charcuterie board

Finally got things dialed in on the laser.
I made this bamboo OSU charcuterie board.
Too bad it didn't bring us any luck in the game against Michigan

Nice! How long did the engraving take?

It took just over an hour at 6000 mm/minute

I had never heard of The Borax solution before Engraving. Very cool! I will have to try that out. Do you know if it works on bamboo as well as wood? Thanks

Same - never heard of it, but I have not laser engraved either.
What does the Borax treatment achieve?

Borax will make engravings some out black.

I read that it's not recommended to use borax on surfaces that will be in contact with food.

Not sure this specific personalized OSU board is going to see much 'use', but I understand your caution.

I hadn't heard that. Maybe it gets burned into the wood?

I'll post this question on a couple laser forums and see what they say.

If that turns out to be true then the baking soda method might be preferred to borax for food contact items

One of the knowledgeable guys over on Lightburn confirms what @riggsp said.

He also suggested baking soda.
