Posting some pictures of the kitchen project.

Demolish the 80 yr old chimney

Gas and water plumbing.... fix some rotten floor joists (thanks to roof leak around chimney)

Remove lath and plaster from walls

Rip out old floors and keep the kitchen working all the while

New drywall, elec, etc...

Progress.. new sink, DW, countertop

Mix of custom and IKEA purchased cabinets. I was going to make all the cabinets but IKEA sells them cheaper than a sheet of Melamine. I only made the ones that were not standard sizes. IKEA marks up their doors and drawer fronts.

Countertops are butcherblock from IKEA. Dyed black and finished with foodsafe Waterlux. Floor is wide pine from Lumber Liquidators - CHEAP and look good.

Very true. Lots and lots of work. The worst parts were...
-Demolishing the old chimney. What a dusty mess.
-Pulling down the old lath and plaster
-Removing the old floor - someone must have tried to use up a thousand free nails when they put it down
-Sanding the new drywall. I will never do that again. Hang the board, but ALWAYS sub out the taping and sanding

Everything else was somewhat enjoyable.

Wish I had a panel saw  and room for one.

Nicely done John, I can empathize with the labor involved. My last house had plaster walls and I have bitter memories of wall removal when I redid the bathroom :tongue2:
