Inexpensive portable woodworking vise

This is a great idea. You should submit it to one of the magazines that publishes these. Many of these provide acknowledgement and a nice prize of published.

One way to make the upper screw slide more easily is to bush the hole. I used a piece of 1" schedule 40 plastic plpe with about a 3/16" wide longitudinal kerf.

Enlarge the upper hole to 1-1/4" and press/pound the pipe into the hole.
