Graduation Jewelry Box

I just completed this spalted pecan and walnut jewelry box for a Granddaughter as a High School graduation present. The spalted wood was difficult to work with because it varied from very hard to falling apart. The slats to make the dividers in the box were especially troublesome. Finish is Watco Danish Oil followed by buffing. It is not perfect by a long shot, but I think she will be pleased.

Beautiful Job! I am doing a piece right that has some similarities with your dividers and can appreciate how difficult it is to get that looking good.

I have made 100's of things of varied complexity and haven't hit the perfect mark yet. Very nicely done and she is going to love it.

From someone who is just starting to toy round making boxes I have to say that looks fantastic. My first "nice" box has been sitting in my shop until I find the right piece for the lid and the time to finish it.
