The "FAQs and How TOs" Forums do NOT work like the rest of the forums on this site. They are intended as "Read Only". The entries in here are intended to be either answers to Frequently Asked Questions or tutorials on how to do something on the site. The idea is that if you have a question on how to do something on the site, you would look through these sub-forums for a formally written piece on the subject.

Original procedure was that anyone who wanted to publish one of these would submit thread/post. The system does not display these immediately, but instead places them in a Moderation Queue where a moderator or an admin would read it over for correctness, clarity, etc. and then approve it or disapprove it.

Today several woodworking type of threads were started in one these sub-forums. So they were put in the moderation queue They were therefore invisible to to the general members. In several cases the poster thought that there post did didn't take, so they repeated the post. So now we had several threads/posts that were invisible and duplicated.

In the meantime a moderator or admin who can see the "invisible posts" realized that the posts had been posted to the wrong forum, moved them to the correct forum. But the system which can not tell WHY a post has been made invisible, still had them marked as invisible.

And that's simplified version:lol:

Two things need to happen. One, we need to make it more obvious to the general members what these forums are for and provide for a better warning system so the poster is not confused. Two, the Mod/admin members need to come up with a better procedure to fix these mistakes. When they happen.

I apologize for the confusion and we'll see what we can do for the future. In the meantime, I have closed the "FAQs and How TOs" Forums until we can come up with a better procedure(s).
