I rebuilt one of those in the last century. Heavy sucker, too.

The electrical panel shows as 3-phase, so if you have VFD, these last several lifetimes.

A VFD would be superior to swapping to single phase. Can't beat electronic variable speed on a drill press.

It is what I did on my Drill press I swapped the motor to 1.25 hp 3 ph w/ vfd ...... what a nice change
