That would work Fred----------only draw back is it would reduce the "face" footage by 50%. That is the reason I was considering laminating to poplar or plywood. They want 5 boxes from that material.

i see.. looks like a lot of material. maybe doing it this way you could use some of the less desirable stuff on one side and the better stuff [ notice i didnt say GOOD stuff ] on the other? at least the inside of the boxes would be of the same material.:eusa_thin I had someone give me a big pile of pecan that was much the same way.:-( wound up burning a lot of it. it just wasnt worth the trouble.
