Stanley No. 78 Scrub Plane Conversion

I came across this post a while back and thought it was a neat idea. I recently found a No. 78 Made in England that was missing the fence and depth stop and decided to convert it to a scrub plane à la Paul Sellers. There was a fair bit of rust and the previous owner had put some deep scratches...

Estate sale finds from today

Bought these items at an estate sale today: Sargent saw vise, Scott Landis' "The Workbench Book", and a Stanley #40 scrub plane. I'm interested in restoring the Stanley so I can give it a try. I currently use a #3 as my goto scrub plane. Be nice to compare with this one.
