Advice on wood choice for lattice

We are in the process of rebuilding our deck, and am looking to do several 2x7' lattice panels. Any thoughts on what wood would work best? As this will be primed and painted, someone recommended using Douglas fir select, but I don't know about the long term durability of Douglas fir for exterior...
