To finish or not to finish, that is my question

I am building a series of 'jewelry boxes' for friends and family, with their input on wood species & felt color.
My niece has chosen Cedar. I picked up pretty nice piece of Aromatic Cedar from Woodcraft. In bringing it home I was reminded of the pleasant aroma of the wood. An idea struck me, leave it unfinished but well sanded and suggest keeping in a drawer to allow that cedar aroma to enhance the items in the drawer.

Any thoughts Pros / Cons .

Thanks folks

What about finishing the inside, and leaving the outside unfinished? I’m thinking a high-gloss interior (or at least the lid) would make a nice statement and a surprising departure from the norm. Not sure how the finish off-gassing would impact the cedar aroma, though.
