That's practice for a boxed set, that I would like to make my father for X-mas. I really don't care for the "gold" colored kits, so these will be users, and I am planning to order some brushed nickel type finish pen/pencil kits for the gift. Any suggestions, I like the prices at woodturningz.com, but I am not finding the set I want. I don't know how to do anything other than a slimline 7mm kit.

With a few exceptions Dave, most kits are the same... Drill the hole, glue the tubes, and turn down to the bushings. The only difference is, some kits have tennons to turn. Some kits have different diameter upper barrel and bottom barrels. Unless you turn to doing fancy inlay or multi-piece blanks, (eagle's pens come to mind first off. His stuff is amazing), Just get the correct bushings and bits, and you're off to the races. You may try your patience with the assembly of some kits.

Oh.. I'd be glad to stop by one weekend with some examples of other kits if you are interested...
