Hey NCWW's,

Over the Weekend I turned this Beautiful Bubinga Pen. I was going to turn more, but I found out Saturday at 1:30pm that we got the house to rent... It's a 4 bd, 1 ba, 2 car garage (Longer and wider than the garage I have now~!) and on a 1/2 acre...So huge garden here we come. Oh it's the same as we are paying now~! What a Miracle~!

This is my 6th pen so Criticism is highly welcome~! :gar-Bi

Anyway I was planning on turning more, maybe when I get my shop set up again~! :eusa_doh:

So can anyone ID this wood pen blank?

I am guessing it is either KOA or Osage orange??? Maybe Monkey Pod???

Thanks for looking and commenting~! :icon_thum

Great work Matt!
That pen is really clean looking.
What kit did you use? It looks familiar, but I can't place it.
As for the wood blank, it looks a lot like the bubinga on the pen!
The grain looks wrong to me for Osage; Koa is a possibility I guess.
Where did you get it?

That is very special wood, imported from a far away land. Chances are pretty high it sailed the ocean blue, not only that I'm pretty sure it's expensive too.

All the osage I've done is as yellow as can be.
It looks like any of several options that I have in the shop right now. Makes me think of tamboti, cocobola, and bacote first off.
What does it smell like?
