I finally got back into woodworking after laying off for quite a while. I decided on a chest of drawers for my bedroom. With about fifteen hours into it, I have the carcass finished and ready for trim moulding and some kind of bracket feet. This part went pretty fast but will slow down now and...
Tina found out last Friday that she had to take a week of vacation this week, or lose the days. :-) It has really been great having her home all week, really it has.:eusa_danc
But I hadn't planned on her being home and was busted yesterday when Fedex delivered 'something' from Woodcraft and...
Anyone who has thought about going, don't think, just go. The wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodations were not fancy, but clean and just right, food for the most part was awesome, couple things they served I didn't care for. The staff is great, it was just a great experience all...
I think I won the Idjit of the Week Award on this one. While looking at one of my galleries I saw I had downloaded the same photo twice. With the other issue I was having, I ignored it for a while. Then this morning I decided to try & delete it. I right clicked the photo and an option...
As can be determined by the amount of $625 donated thru the first 21 days of the drive, we are far from the goal and will, unless there is a tremendous increase in response during the next 10 days, fall far short of our goal. I know that, in the past, Steve was opposed to making a big "to do"...
Our goal for donations for the fourth quarter is $1,500. The drive ends on October 31. With only 10 days left, we have 20 donations for a total of $625. In the past 24 hours we have had 2,469 active users, of which 334 were members. It's obvious that this site is utilized by a large number of...
Now it really looks like a shop :gar-Bi
I found out my home made air cleaner works good, the 20x20 filter was slam full of sawdust had to blow it out today, think I need a better dust collection system:elvis:
We got off to a good start, and at the end of the first week we had 10 donations for a total of $400. Activity has dropped off a bit as we now have, at the end of the second week, 13 donations for a total of $465. Donations are very important to the financial well-being of NCWW and your...
Thought I would let everyone know that next week the lumber yard will be closed. There is still 400' Fas S. Maple, 4000' weathered ash, 300' red oak, 6/4 s. maple, 400' 1C hickory and 1000' stained ash left at the yard. We are taking the lumber up to Haywood county. If there is anyone still...

We had to say goodbye to our female boxer this morning. She was almost 14 and we know that she is now romping in doggy heaven with our other dogs who precedede her. She was probably one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known.
We have completed the third week of the donation drive and have received 23 donations for a total of $851 leaving us $649 short of our goal. The drive will end on August 7, so there is still time to make a donation if you want to be a part of being sure that North Carolina Woodworker continues...
At the end of the second week of the donation drive, we have received $500.38 (net of Paypal fees) from 15 donors. We have 3186 members, and for the period January 1, 2009 thru June 30, 2009, have averaged approximately 300 active users per day. It is obvious that many people enjoy the benefits...
The issue of fund raising doesn't necessarily rest with the entire board. However, we are sailing in uncharted waters now, so I am making the BoD aware of the results of the first week of the drive.
The first week has ended and we have 8 donations for a total of $190 before paypal fees. We...
Wow - what a great week.
Earlier this week Gary (NCTurner) and his lovely wife Lyn stopped by to pick up some of the spalted oak that I brough home from David (RoverTCV) in Lilington last Saturday. What a cool couple! Lyn's family (grandfather) has a history of doing things themselves, and I...
I have been looking for a real mortice chisel for a few years, Saturday I found one for $7.50. I will make a handle and be happy. I looked up the price of a new one, BOY am i happy! I thought this was a Buck but when I got it clean the name looks more like S. RUSE. Is that is a known tool maker...
The first is here in North Carolina at TI Industries and it's one we are doing. They are a large pre-finished moulding organization so most of what's offered is larger, older and not in the shape most of us would want. But there are some nuggets in there, especially storage racks and carts...
I will be in Germany Saturday 12/6- saturday 12/13. I WILL be on the site, just at odd hours, and for unpredictable periods of time. Please help moderate the workshop and how-to forums. Thanks.
BTW: These forum rarely need moderation.
