Support for MP4 videos?

I attempted to upload a video to the site, but it was rejected as an unrecognized format - it is .mp4 (using the H.264 codec, I think). This is becoming one of the most widely used formats. Have y'all updated the vBadvanced software lately? Any idea when you might start supporting this format on the forum?

Just for grins, change the extension to .mov and see if it will still play and upload. Many apps don't care which extension that format has.

After renaming, it will still play in media player - and the upload control doesn't reject it. However, I get an error during the upload "Server (IO) Error". Is there a size limit? It is 3.35MB.

After Staff review, we've determined hosting videos is not something we can support on our servers.

So, we are going to do some updates and make it easy to insert videos from other sites, such as YouTube.

We will create a tutorial on how to get vidoes up there as well as included in posts.

Hosting videos can become a disk and bandwidth issue.

I'll update as soon as we get things ready.
