I made this little rest:

It will go from about 1/4" to about 2.5". It only has 2 adjustments, with 2 wheels on the bottom and one on the top, so it is quick to attach and detach. My main motivation was for woodwinds, but it obviously comes in handy for other chores. :rolf:

Cool. I really love seeing how others overcome small problems and these home made jigs and such. Gives me lots of ideas.

I should explain why it almost looks overbuilt. The wheel arrns can flip over so the wheels are on the backside (but it wouldn't take as good a picture that way). My 2 smallest chucks, which will get the most use on spindles, are MT #2 - not threaded. Even if I tap them in pretty good, they like to work loose if they aren't held in fairly tight. If I have even a slight recess for a tenon where the rest is, it should keep the chucks in check.
