I came across a few of these old jems and I want to clean and restore without losing the already faint markings.
I know how to clean the brass, how about the wood.
These things can be addictive.
Before you try anything take some pictures. I tried cleaning one and found it very difficult to clean the wood without wiping out the markings, especially the markings that are not embossed.
