Thank you. Those are mortised lid supports. I followed a plan by David Marks with the obvious, I want to do something a little different, modifications. The original plans called for a plywood seat and the accent on the bottom of the legs was to be ebony. But the lid supports were in his original plans. The hard part was getting the mortise to cross through two different thicknesses of wood while it was only press fit together. GOOD TIMES!

I actually don't play, the wife does, but it gets the books off the piano. Leaving room to put more stuff on the piano. LOL
