I have been using some scraps to make pendants. Blanks are approx. 2" square and 1/4" thick. I taped two blanks together, cut out a half moon shape with the scroll saw, took the blanks apart and glued up the contrasting woods with ultra thick CA glue. I mounted the first blank on lathe, taped to a homemade backer block mounted to my chuck. I turned the corners (sanded fairly round first) and had no problem. When I started to turn the face, the blank came apart along the glue line. I was using a very sharp skew and a light touch. I know the 1/4" thickness doesn't allow much surface area to glue. I would like to know if anyone has tried this and what type glue you used.
Here is what I'm trying to do:
Here are a few pendants.
Pendants are Cocobolo, Walnut and Zebrawood with a CA finish then buffed with plastic polish.
