Thanks BAS and Joe! Looks like what I was wanting. The aluminum one I purchased just doesn't seem safe! Maybe I'll feel more comfortable with the Dubby! And actually taper some legs....
I think you'll like it a lot better than the cheap hinged-dual-aluminum-bar versions. However, it doesn't mention any provision for tapering all four sides. You'll have to carefully shim the 3rd and 4th sides before cutting.
I've been pretty happy with the taper sled I built from the Shop Notes plans. I've used on several occasions and it handles 4-sided tapers with perfect accuracy and barely more setup than the one picture. I'd build it again if mine disappeared.
Looking at the PeachTree plans, it looks like it could be easily augmented to handle 4-sided tapers.
