There's been a lot of chatter about the new Kerfmaker on a couple other WW boards. This ingenious jig from Bridge City quickly and accurately sets dados on the table saw, router table, and other tools. Here's the commercial version: http://www.bridgecitytoolworks.info/Products/Miscellaneous+Tools/KM-1+KerfMaker+Pre-Order
There's a Youtube video demonstrating the use.
Several simplified homemade verions have been posted in the past week. I thought this one looked interesting, and decided to make one and test it: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/19473
It's a very simple build, using scraps and hardware I had on hand. And I'm happy to say it works like a charm. It's easy, fast, and very accurate.
The basic unit, closed. The lower component is shortened the width of the saw blade
the two components. Bolt, washers and knob locks the two halves together with pressure
adjusted for board width, and knob tightened.
finished joint
