Iron table coatings

Had cast iron tools forever. Have used wax until about ten years ago switched to Boeshield T9. T9 seems to last longer. Setting up my new Rikon bandsaw and was making an auxiliary fence to use when not resawing. Made from plywood. I sprayed with clear Krylon. Was thinking, why has no one sprayed clear on their cast iron. Don't remember which manufacturer tried the Titanium coated without much success and is now trying nickle plating. Any thoughts on spraying with clear.
