I have three band saws in my shop, two of which use 105" blades. I've been meaning to call John over at Woodcraft Bands for a couple weeks to order a 1/4", 6TPI, hook pattern, bi-metal blade for second saw. (I've been running one on my first saw for over eleven years now.) Fast forward to tonight. I'm cutting out Toys for Tots cars. I have 450 marked out ready to cut. After only 54 cars, band saw blade breaks (not at weld.) I substitute a new 3/8" blade for old blade. The 11+ year old blade cut a heck of a lot better than new blade (not bi-metal). Because Woodcraft Bands is closed on Friday, I'm dead in the water till Monday. I should have called John last week! Better to have too many tools (blades), rather than not enough.
