I've been looking around, and I'm interested in something like this:
http://www.rikontools.com/productpage_70-100.htm
What other things should I look into, as far as chucks, tools, etc?
Just my opinion, but you could get the one Jeremy reccomended and save money in my opinion here:
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/tls/1393604907.html $400 and comes with everything you'll need to get started.
Of course then again it is in Charlotte and that's a long drive.
My other opinion is, for $225+tax with a 20% off coupon to HF you could get this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34706 and turn everything that little one can plus much more, as you can turn legs, bats, and have more room to get into the bowls. This is the same one I have and Earl has.
Here's a pic of one of Earls turnings in progress on the HF lathe (HF= Harbor Freight)
Then get one of these ( and there on sale, Man :BangHead: I always miss the sales:
http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2020042/18872/1-x-8-TPI-Self-Centering-4-Jaw-Chuck.aspx
And one of these to hold the bowls:
http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2020042/18877/Large-Flat-Jaws-Chuck.aspx
And one of these for pen turning:

I think that might be about it to get started. Oh and then or before, we can head over to Earls, and I am sure he would show you how to make a Tool or 2 or 5, or I can~!!! And maybe if you ask real nice, he can help you make some more face plates for about $1 each instead of $8 each and wasting gas for this:

Anyway I hope I helped you out, Will talk more tomorrow about it all when I come to borrow the Mower.:gar-Bi
