A year or so ago Joe Scharle was cleaning out his garage and he gave me an old IBM computer room / school clock. These were used back in the 50's and 60's in campus environments. All of the clocks were slaved to a master so that they all had the same time.
I brought it back to the farm, cleaned it up, plugged it in, and lo and behold it worked! Apparently in my area Progress Energy is still sending out a timing signal, as the clock synched up and kept accurate time.
This year for Christmas my mother in law gave me a new "atomic" clock for the shop (with built in RH%), so I am going to retire the IBM clock. It's kinda cool, so I hate to throw it away.
If anybody would like to have it (especially an IBM retiree), it's yours. Just send me an e-mail or PM. Thx.
Scott
