Today, I replaced the rear bearing on a 3 phase motor which I'm planning to use for rotary converter. I used a bearing puller to remove the old one. Then I took new bearing, and put it on top of a 75 watt light bulb (turned on of course.) After about five minutes, using a pair of leather gloves, I put bearing on the motor shaft. It fell into place, without any pressing.

I had kinda the same thing happen to me but it turned out the new bearings I got were metric and the old ones were imperial. I hope that's not what happened to you.

Thanks

Jeff, I was replacing a 6205 with a new 6205. Same bearing, just without the grinding sounds. Once in a while, I run into one of those "special bore" 6203's. That is why I have a set of calipers. Bruce

You just have to stock up before 2012, when sales of incandescents will be outlawed...
