I cut down a Walnut tree and have four very large logs. I have a fellow coming to saw them into boards.
I read somewhere that one should "seal" the ends to prevent "checking."
These logs have been "down" for several months.
Is it too late?
If not, what should I use and how should I apply it to seal the ends?
Or, should I wait until we slab the logs into boards?
