Attn Turners: Free Sweet Gum Logs in Charlotte

My next door neighbor had a couple of hundred-ft plus sweet gum tree's downed today. The trunks were cut into smaller pieces and are going to be thrown out ... unless someone wants them and can come get them soon.

I don't know much about turning ... or sweet gum ... but I'd think someone can get some use out of these!

Act quick ... I'm not sure how long he'll let them sit in the yard! We are located in east Charlotte.

Has anyone turned Sweet Gum (aka Sorgum, Sticker-ball trees)? I have some of it down in my neighborhood too, but have not had the chance to try it yet.

FYI - These are still in the yard as of this morning. Guess he didn't move them as fast as he advertised! :lol:

I've made some pens out of sweet gum.... Some made beautiful pens. some didnt.... I dont know what a bowl would look like though. If I had a truck I would come get those...
