Has anyone used the turning tools with replaceable carbide inserts ? How did they perform ? Pros and cons of them. And who makes the best one for the money ? Thanks Everybody !
I have one made by Hunter and the little that I have used it, it has worked great. Many folks around here like the Easy Rougher
I have found that my tool can be quite aggressive and self-feeds a little. None of those things are bad, but it's good to know in advance as it can be shorts-staining the first time.
They are the the way to go for roughing and for scraping.I make all my tools as I have a hard time paying somebody else to make something I can do just as well.I get my inserts from Global and they work well.
We have four of the Hunters. My wife uses one to hollow 2 inch Christmas ornaments from red maple. She did fifty before cutter needed to be rotated!. Very happy with ours.
