Hey all!
I am a local Arborist and Contract climber in the Charlotte area. I harvest tree's that were deemed "Unsafe" by certified arborists that would have otherwise ended up being chipped and dumped. I get everything from Black Walnut, Black Cherry, Hickory, Iron Wood, both Red and White Oaks...
If anyone is interested I've been milling some 6 and 8/4 Pecan slabs between 12" and 30" wide.
Also have a bunch of 12/4 Quartersawn from 5"-10" wide and by the end of the weekend should have a dozen or so 13" wide 4/4 Quartersawn boards.
I'm working on a fireplace surround and mantel and will be making the mantle out of walnut. Problem is, the mantle needs to be 9 - 1/2 or 10 inches deep, 72 inches long and 2 inches thick minimum. You'll be able to see the top and portions of the bottom. I have a stock of walnut in different...
Does anyone know of a source for seasoned Black or Lombardy poplar in 10-12/4 thickness slabs approx. 18-20" wide x 4' long? I'm specific about the black / Lombardy variety, not the common tulip poplar ( I've got plenty of that right in the backyard!).I'm getting ready to build another upright...
We have a customer wanting a few things made from live edge wood. Preferably Walnut, Maple or Cherry. We need either a large piece or a few smaller pieces that can be made into a desk top, small printer table and chair back. It needs to be fairly thick 1-2". Any help where I can find some that...
First off is this monster Old Growth California Redwood.
It is 9' long, 57" at it's widest, 22" at the least wide point. The tree apparently went through a forest fire, as the edges are charred. Price is still TBD.
There is also this stunning slab of Spalted Maple.
It is 103" long and...
Got an Alaskan sawmill last week and it's pretty cool with my Huskey 55 Rancher but bogged down some. My Huskey 395 XP should be in tomorrow. Going to make some more slabs soon.
Not mine, etc, etc, etc......

I picked up a slab today for a fireplace mantle. According to the owner, the wood has been air drying for about 6 months.
Does anyone have or know where I can find some smaller (2-3' X 3-4') slabs? I wanted to try and make a coffee table, but the ones I've seen at Klingspor and Woodcraft are larger and more $$ than I want to spend. I don't have a specific species in mind yet.
Would anybody be interested in a slab top to build a Roubo style workbench from? I have a massive red oak slab that I milled a couple of years ago - it is 14" thick, 4' wide and 6' long, and fellow NCWW member David Keller and I have been discussing milliing it into some smaller, Roubo sized...
I live in the south Asheville area and have a couple of questions about drying walnut slabs.
Just yesterday had a few slabs of walnut cut for me for a future table. 2 12 quarter, 1 8 quarter, and one 4 quarter. The slabs are around 24 inches in width x 9ft in length. Very nice wood. The two 12...
