Inlay cutting sled

Inlay stock glue up and clamping.
I got you figured out. What looks like many tiny pieces laminated together is really the grain pattern of the wood. That is easier that the final product looks. Did you get the technique out of a Doug Stowe book. I have a great one that shows other techniques for making shop made inlays.

You got it Dave.:icon_thum The outer bands were made from ash which has a nice grain pattern and lent itself well to the over all 3D effect of the final inlay. If I remember I will bring a piece of it with me to the next TWA meeting. I picked up a piece of yellowheart and purpleheart the last time I was at WC and when I get a chance I am going to attempt to make more inlay and alternate the strips which I hope will really make the 3D effect stand out even more. I saw a pic (but no instructions) in one of Doug Stowe's books and took it from there.
