Alright, it looks to me as though yahoogroups is going to fill our needs:eusa_danc
But first, a few points. Yahoo intended this type of group to used as a "mailing list". We are not going to use it that way. What I know now is that posting to the group is not fast enough reliably. Yes, some posts get there in a few minutes, but some take several hours, there is no guarantee.
But, messages posted on their website are immediately visible and the email goes out to the members immediately. So we are going to use it as a one way system. Any messages to be posted must be posted at the site, not through email.
This group will be only used for site down notification and coordination. NOTHING ELSE! I am going to delete all messages and the message list must stay empty until it is used for site down notification the first time.
The message count that you will see is NOT the count of messages currently on the board, but the count that has ever been sent, so it will not go back to zero. Don't let that confuse you.
Consider the board "live" from this point on. I will be posting the site outage procedure shortly.
Thanks
