Dr. Bob,
I think that depends on how far you are willing to travel and the skill set you want to develop.

I would probably start with one of our advertisers Stuart Kent;

I havn't been, but I have heard GREAT things about Arrowmont classes

Roy Underhill is always on my list (depending on the skill set you want to learn)

The John C Campbell schools is GREAT!

Another good one is Drew Langsner's classes

I have taken one on one classes with a few woodworking schools here in NC. By far the best has been Gregory Paolini. He is an excellent teacher, keeps classes to 6 or less, and you get a great choice of projects. I've built the bow arm morris chair and am working on the maloof inspired sculptured rocking chair. If you want something on par with Lonnie Bird, I would check him out.

He also has a new book out which features some of the projects from his classes.

I'm taking his cabinet construction/doors and drawers class next month, really looking forward to it.

That's another class I want to take! Hopefully it will be in his new larger workshop he is building across the street. Tell him I said hi!

Roy Underhill's classes are inspirational for those of us who sometimes forget the value and joy of hand tools.
