Hello all, sorry I have not posted in awhile. I had this idea to make a work station that included a router table on one end and on the other a cutting station that would include my table saw, all on a mobile base. Well, I ordered two plans from Norm, also spoke to several people here about wood. D.Gillie kindly sold me a couple of boards for the trim. I visited a local wood distrubutor that Gillie told me about and bought luaun ply, which was cheaper than regular ply at Lowes. Well I completed the mobile base and started on the router table. See link: http://ncwoodworker.net/gallery/browseimages.php?c=497 for pictures.

As I was working, I decided if I were going to build this why put an $80 saw in it. So, I started reading reviews on table saws and decided the Ryobi was best for me, bang for the buck. I bought the saw, (small gloat) and decided I don't want to mount it into a table now. That is why it is just a Router table project now. I will end up using the mobile base to build a flip top table to hold my planer and jointer, (see insominac's idea, great job by the way!) As far as the finish goes, I have be doing some test coats of tung oil.

I will keep everyone up to date. I look forward to your thoughts.

Great job! I like that aluminum insert plate - looks like that will last a while!

David, your router table looks great. You will really enjoy it once you get it all complete. What router are you going to put in it and are you making the fence?
Dave:)

Nice work David and thanks for sharing the WIP pixs. You will be able to hang a pretty hefty router on that plate :icon_thum

David it's a great looking project. I also believe it is the first case of the dreaded woodguy disease striking while making the table for the intended equipment! Then a second strike of not wanting to put the new tool the first strike "made" you buy. Too funny :)lol:   ) and proof of the extreme virulence ( :new_evil: ) of this disease - perhaps even a new strain! I can see you now - "gee, honey, I know I made this really cool cabinet for this saw but it is really unworthy of the cabinet. I need a new one" Then "gee, honey, I know I bought this new saw for that really cool cabinet, but the cabinet is unworthy!)" You best be buying her something really good soon! :rolf:
